How it works

Drink cans with a deposit logo: into the supermarket return machine. Food tins and loose cans may go in general waste — the city fishes them out with magnets.

AMSTERDAM PULLS METAL OUT OF GENERAL WASTE AFTER COLLECTION — with huge magnets. That is why there is no separate can bin on the street.

Careful

large metal objects do not belong here. they go to a recycling centre.
